BROWSER FILE SHARING
Share files without signing up or creating a cloud link
Open Orylin's file workspace, create an invitation and let the recipient join in a compatible browser. Both devices stay online while encrypted file chunks are transferred and checked.
Choose a live handoff or a stored download link
Orylin is useful when the recipient is ready now and you do not need a server to store a copy for later download. It does not create an email attachment, public download page or cloud file archive.
Agree who will receive the file and keep it accessible on the sending device. If the recipient needs to collect it after you leave, use a workflow that explicitly supports stored delivery instead.
Sender: invite the recipient, then send the file
Open the file workspace and create an invitation. Send the generated invitation privately to the intended person, or show its QR code when the devices are together. The ordinary address of the file page is not a session invitation.
Wait for the recipient to join and check the session's connection path before selecting the file. Keep the sending page open, and keep the device awake while transfer progress is moving.
Recipient: check completion and save the received file
Join using the invitation and follow the receiving controls. Orylin checks received bytes progressively using SHA-256; seeing a connection or partial progress does not mean the file is complete.
Save the completed file and check its name and expected contents before either person disconnects. A byte-integrity check does not establish that the file's contents are safe or that the sender is who you intended.
What happens when Direct is unavailable
The preferred path is Direct WebRTC. A volunteer relay can carry bounded encrypted traffic, with a current file limit of 2 MiB. Public Nostr rescue cannot carry files.
No account is required, but that does not mean anonymous: peers and infrastructure can process connection metadata. The recipient can keep a saved copy. Protect the invitation and confirm the receiving person through a channel you trust.
Questions and answers
Can someone download the file after I close the tab?
Orylin does not create a stored cloud download page. Complete the live transfer and let the recipient save the file before closing the session.
Does the other person need an Orylin account?
No. The recipient joins the temporary browser session using the generated invitation. Both devices still need a compatible browser and an available connection path.
Does encrypted transfer prevent the recipient from keeping the file?
No. Encryption protects application content in transit. A recipient who receives and saves a file can retain or copy it.
