ASSISTED REMOTE ACCESS

Help someone remotely with explicit screen and control permissions

The computer receiving help creates the invitation and decides whether to share its screen or allow keyboard and mouse control. Joining a session or installing Orylin does not by itself grant control.

Agree on the task before sharing access

Use remote support with a person you trust and an agreed task. Decide whether they only need to see the screen, need keyboard and mouse input, or need a terminal for a specific operation.

Close unrelated private material before sharing. Tell the helper what they may do and remain present to approve requests. This guide describes an attended session; it does not establish unattended access or support for every operating-system configuration.

Computer receiving help: install, open and invite

Check the download page for the available desktop release and its platform requirements. Install and open Orylin on the computer that will provide the screen, then create its remote-control invitation.

Respond to the system's app-launch and capture prompts, and send the generated invitation privately. The webpage opening an app is an intermediate step; check that the intended desktop session is actually running.

Helper: join, request and wait for approval

Join the invitation for the intended computer and request the required access. Screen viewing and input control are separate decisions. If you can see an image but input does not work, check whether control was explicitly approved.

The host follows both the app and operating-system permission prompts. Verify the actual screen, and only after approval test a harmless keyboard or mouse action agreed with the host. A connected indicator alone does not verify remote control.

Finish the task and confirm access has ended

Explain any changes made during support, then disconnect and confirm that sharing has stopped. The host should be able to distinguish a completed task from an app that was merely launched.

If a prompt is missing or the app does not respond, check installation and pending system prompts before retrying. Do not share account passwords or invitation secrets in an error report. For terminal work, use the dedicated SSH guide and its account-permission boundaries.

Questions and answers

Does joining an invitation grant mouse and keyboard access?

No. Joining and viewing do not by themselves grant input control. The computer providing access must explicitly approve the required control permissions.

Does the computer receiving help need the desktop app?

Yes for the described remote-control workflow. Check the current download page and guide for platform requirements before starting.

How do I stop a remote-support session?

Disconnect the session and confirm that screen sharing and control have stopped. If the app has not connected yet, cancel the pending connection instead.
